5 things i love about blogging:
1. web content. no matter how trife, the bloggs still bring traffic to the site. the site is our number 1 "marketing tool". and i could probably put together a formula or map or whatever of the ratio of site "hits" to actual "sales".
2. escapism. i enjoy seeing what other photogs are up too. its news i can trust. its living vicariously through others. whats going on in nyc? whats going on in japan? whats going on on mars? even if one blogg is only .003% of reality, ill take it cuz you can add it to other bloggs and have a pretty good idea of whats what.
3. storytelling. its interesting to read into random stories and adventures. and photos that will probably otherwise never get seen, finally get to see the light because they are part of a bigger picture. in the blogg format these photos get validatation. they also get the added treatment of text to futher enhance the story.
4. second shots. often there are second shots and different angles of the same scenario. editing decisions can be rough at times, but bloggs are almost immune to editing. i mean i can really put up 50 lame photos of the same thing and people will still hit it up. whereas, in the printed world that would never fly.
5. its a celebration bitches. instead of inviting friends and family over to view contacts of photos of themselves last weekend at so and so's bday, protest, show, wedding, jam, rally or whatever. they can just hit up the blogg.

tq and i just returned from a month in mexico. drove down the mainland coast as far as puerto angel (oaxaca), then cut inland to oaxaca city, puebla, mexico city, guadalajara, finally taking a boat to baja and driving up the peninsula. needless to say, it was epic. i wish we could've stayed longer, but our money was gone and living in the back of a truck was getting a little tight. but fuck, we're so close, you know. it's crazy, a totally different world just a few hours south. anyway, these are just a few random photos i shot with tq's digicam, i mostly shot slides and b&w (picked up a nikon 8008 after my trusty old ae-1 gave up the ghost last summer. i love it, it's heavy and loud) of which i'll send you some stuff soon.

this is caio and frank of b+f printing, who print hamburger eyes. they hate me cuz i dont pay on time and i make them work on the weekends but they love hamburger eyes and we were all psyched to see proofs of the cover. frank didnt feel comfortable enough with his english to come to the release party. but we know he likes to party because he bought us steaks once.

this is amy from detroit and is the first person ive met through myspace. we were both glad that the other wasnt a crazy rapist or un-supervised 12 year old. she happens to be an amazing photojournalist and shot the superbowl and saw all the pittsburgh steelers dicks in the locker room.

ive gained 30-40 pounds since ive moved to sf 2 and a half years ago. i think its starting to show. at first, i liked it but after this its like i better start getting in trouble for something cuz thats the only time i run. but im never in trouble. fat city here i come.
